Minutes will not become official until accepted at the next Regular Selectmen’s Meeting March 14, 2011.

                                     I.      Call to Order

 

Tony Reny – Acting Chairman, called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.

 

                                  II.      Public Discussion

 

None.

 

                                 III.      Acceptance of Minutes – February 14, 2011

 

Mark Christman motioned to waive the reading of the minutes, and to approve the acceptance of the minute’s dated February 14th meeting upon signature of acting chairman, Tony Reny. Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.

 

                                IV.      Treasurer’s Report

 

Charlie Noonan reported a balance on hand after today’s warrant of

$ 559,033.46.The Board and Town Manager briefly discussed the treasurer’s report. There was concern on the price of fuel oil; if the budget presented has enough money to cover the prices going up.

 

 

 

                             V.      Roads

 

The snow storms keep hitting us; this is putting a strain on the diesel fuel budget due to the increase in storms and increase in price of diesel. The Highway Department is maintaining equipment and plowing.

 

 

 

                                VI.      Old Business

 

                                                                                                                               a.      2011 Annual Town Meeting

 

Sally Ann Hebert gave an overview of the hours of voting and absentee ballots are available.

 

The Board discussed Article 22 for the new fire truck; Chief Lavoie will speak on this request at town meeting. The Board also discussed Article 37 regarding purchasing the land and buildings from the VFW for expansion of the ball fields.

 

The Board discussed at length the price of diesel fuel and heating oil continuing to rise.

 

 

                                                                                                                              b.      Unemployment Compensation Bill

 

This bill has been slaughtered by the committee.

 

 

c.    School Budget  

 

Don Bedford gave a report on this meeting. The School Board kept a handle on the meeting. They are putting budget items on the revisit list. This week’s workshop they will be discussing the Transportation Dept and will discuss the possibility of hiring out the buses and bus drivers from another company, instead of hiring their own.

 

They reported they will be getting an increase in state aid to education.

 

The Board received a letter from Turner Town Manager, Eva Leavitt asking the School board to look at the budget a little stronger.

VII.          New Business

 

 

a                    Legislation affecting Allen Pond

 

Charlie reported that there are a couple of bills submitted that affect Allen Pond in Greene. Charlie was not aware of these bills and asked Rep Wood to please contact him whenever there are bills presented that would affect the residents of Greene.

 

The bills submitted affected the water ski course on Allen Pond; the fish stocking program for the State of Maine and one to not allow Jet Skis on Allen Pond.

 

b                    Other 

 

Tony Reny reported that the Conservation Commission will be hosting an outing on Hooper Pond 3/12 8am-2pm for the Cub Scout troops of Greene.

Tony Reny reminded residents to go vote at town meeting on the photographs submitted for the photo contest.

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Town of Greene Payroll Warrant # 15 dated 2/18/11 of $ 6,947.15. Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.

 

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Town of Greene Accounts Payable Warrant # 16 dated 2/18/11 of $ 33,154.66.  Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.

 

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Town of Greene Payroll Warrant # 17 dated 2/28/11 of $ 6,197.07. Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.   

 

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Town of Greene Accounts Payable Warrant # 18 dated 2/28/11 of $ 13,335.52.  Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.

 

 

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Julia Adams Morse Library Warrant # 4 dated 2/18/11 of $ 2,757.34. Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.

 

 

Kevin Mower motioned to accept and sign the Cable Warrant # 4 dated 2/28/11 of $ 95.95. Don Bedford 2nd the motion. Vote was unanimous. Motion passed.
